DREAMS OF TOMORROW
As a young and ambitious child, I had an imagination that one day I'll make it to one of the top tertiary institutions in Kenya.Today,I stand as a bona-fide student of the Great Technical University of Mombasa. What a pleasure!
My ways were paved into this Institution way back in 2020 as a mare first year student in the Department of Communication Studies. I was much eager to enter the Comradeship life;interacting with University students and freely face the stories I used to hear while in High School.
I was much elated when I first stepped into my lecture room during my first lesson. The new faces around were shocking but for the courage I had,we became friends at the end of the day.I was so positive on class attendance hence I couldn't afford to miss any lecture.
At the genesis, campus Hostels were my official residence, they are just within the campus premise therefore at my freetime, I used to access other Campus Departments. It took me time to know the campus corners but with time,I learnt all.
It was my first time to reside away from my parents outreach. I could count much challenges than benefits since I wasn't used in handling some of my chores alone.I was kind of lazy in washing my clothes ,preparing for classes on time amongst others.
In SD Hostel room 202 life was nice but challenging.
Advancing my studies being the core reason as to why I travelled miles away from Lakeside City of Kisumu to Mombasa. It was nice to attend lectures since some Lecturers were making the learning session funny, interactive and more enjoyable. I recall the first time I did campus examination. I was much pressured but I managed and produced excellent results. The results were produced online,I remember the feeling I had since the University communicated the date earlier.Currently,I've sat many University Examinations and results are impressive.
Campus life is circled by several challenges, therefore an individual student has to draw the good and appropriate strategies to calm them without messing up.
Key challenge is inadequate upkeep money which may drive someone into depression, hunger and poor health.Another challenge is Peer pressure which has lured many comrades into full-time drug abuse. As a student, I ensured my parents supplied me with adequate upkeep money and I've also kept away from bad influencers.
Technical University of Mombasa has moulded my leadership skills to another capacity.
I've been the class representative and the organizing secretary of all the Communication Department class representatives.
I say thank you.
I'm much happy for my campus life experience.
Naman Oselu,Technical University of Mombasa .
Thank you All.
